I am Michelle Gallant, a Registered Dietitian working in Guelph, Ontario.
The longer I have worked as dietitian the more I have come to realize the sheer number of people who struggle with their relationship with food.
Think back to when you were a child. Your face may have lit up at the sight of ice cream or a grilled cheese sandwich. You ate when you were hungry and stopped when you were full. You may also know someone who seems to have a “normal” relationship with food. They eat what they want, when they want and experience joy with eating. Unfortunately, so many people are tormented by guilt, shame and compensation after eating. My goal is to help you rebuild an intuitive and positive relationship with food. Life is about so much more than being controlled by thoughts of food, body image and exercise.
I have clinical experience working with a variety of clients including those struggling with disordered eating and eating disorders. I have also worked with populations including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, pregnancy, child & adolescent nutrition, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I choose to work from a Health at Every Size model with a focus on mindful eating to encourage intake of balanced, nutritious food and to stop the number on the scale from dictating self worth.
